Four Princetonians on NHL Opening Day Rosters

Jeff Halpern '99 will begin his 12th season in the NHL in a return to the Washington Capitals, the team with which he broke into the NHL back in 1999. Halpern has 792 NHL games under his belt and has also played for Washington, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles and Montreal.
George Parros '03 enters his seventh season with the Anaheim Ducks. Parros, who has also played for Los Angeles and Anaheim in his career has played in 367 games. Parros became the first Princeton alum to have his name engraved on the Stanley Cup when the Ducks were Stanley Cup champs in 2007.
Darroll Powe '07 will begin his fourth season in the NHL and his first playing for the Minnesota Wild. Powe began his NHL career in Philadelphia and appeared in 204 NHL games for the team. Kevin Westgarth '07 will begin his second full season with Los Angeles Kings. Westgarth has 65 NHL games under his belt through two seasons and recently signed a contract extension with the team.
A pair of Tigers, Mike Moore '08 and Cam MacIntyre '10 are both signed under NHL contracts with the San Jose Sharks, but were the final two players sent by the team to its AHL affiliate in Worcester. Moore played in sic NHL games last season and MacIntyre has yet to make his NHL debut.
Additionally Kyle Hagel '08 and Taylor Fedun '11 were in NHL camps this fall. Hagel signed with the St. Louis Blues over the summer and was assigned to the team's AHL affiliate in Peoria, Ill. Fedun was on track to potentially make the Edmonton Oilers in training camp, but suffered a broken femur in a preseason game and is currently rehabbing the injury.
