Men's Hockey Drops 4-0 Game at No. 18 Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. (11/18/11) - A three-goal third period lifted the No. 18 ranked Cornell men's hockey team to a 4-0 win over Princeton on Friday, Nov. 18 at Lynah Rink.
The Big Red got on the scoreboard at 11:29 of the first period with a goal by freshman Brian Ferlin. Ferlin circled inside the left circle and banged the puck off the boards and Greg Miller spun and sent a back-hand pass to Ferlin who made his way to the slot and scored.
After two periods the shots stood even at 13 apiece and both teams were 0 for 3 on the power play.
It was the third period that would change everything.
Joakim Ryan ripped a shot from inside the right face off circle that made its way into the back of the net to give Cornell a 2-0 edge at 5:52.
The Big Red put the game out of reach with two goals within 1:08. Cole Bardreau skated up the left boards and sent the puck cross ice to Dustin Mowrey who sent it glove side on goaltender Sean Bonar at 9:26. Sean Collins sealed the victory at 10:34 when he picked up a feed from Joel Lowry skating down center ice.
Cornell had a 9-2 edge in shots in the final frame to finish with a 22-15 lead in shots. Princeton was 0 for 5 on the power play and Cornell was 0 for 4.
Bonar made 18 saves in goal for the Tigers, while Andy Illes stopped 15 for Cornell.
Princeton falls to 2-5-1 overall, while Cornell improves to 4-2.
The Tigers will face Colgate, tomorrow, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m., at Starr Rink. The Raiders earned a 3-1 win over Quinnipiac this evening.
