Prier Gets First Win as Men's Hockey Tops Harvard 4-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (11/4/11) - Princeton head coach Bob Prier earned his first career win as the men's hockey team defeated Harvard 4-3 at the Bright Hockey Center on Friday, Nov. 4.
The Tigers were 3 for 4 on the power play, as they outshot the Crimson 38-28.
Sophomore Eric Carlson scored his first of two goals, and gave Princeton an edge at the first intermission scoring in the final minute of the first period. Senior Brodie Zuk and sophomore Alec Rush picked up assists.Junior Michael Sdao tallied his third goal of the season at 5:52 of the second as the Tigers converted on their second straight power-play opportunity. Sophomore Andrew Calof fed Sdao and freshman Aaron Ave earned his first career point with the secondary assist.
Harvard made it a one-goal game about three minutes later when Alex Killorn scored his first of two with help from Alex Fallstrom and Dan Ford.
Freshman Aaron Kesselman notched his first career goal as he gave Princeton a 3-1 lead at 5:43 with help from junior Eric Meland and sophomore Jeremy Goodwin.
Harvard's Killorn scored again, this time on the the man advantage, to cut the lead back to one at 7:29.
Senior Derrick Pallis and Meland would pick up helpers on Carlson's second goal at 11:15, as the Tigers recorded their third power play goal to take a 4-2 lead.
Harvard answered 22 seconds later when Luke Greiner synched up with Fallstrom.
Crimson goaltender Steve Michalek would be pulled for the final 35 seconds in favor of the extra attacker. Harvard could only get one shot off in those final seconds, which was blocked by Zuk.
Sophomore netminder Sean Bonar earned his first win of the season making 25 saves for the Tigers. Michalek stopped 34 shots in the Crimson's first game of the season.
Princeton improves to 1-2-1 overall and 1-1 in league play. The Tigers will face Dartmouth tomorrow, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at Thompson Arena. The Big Green won a 5-4 game over Quinnipiac this evening.
