Kleebaum Scores Twice but Men's Hockey Falls 5-3 at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. (11/5/11) - Junior Rob Kleebaum scored twice but it wasn't enough as the Princeton men's hockey team lost a 5-3 game at Dartmouth on Saturday, Nov. 5.
Princeton got on the scoreboard just 44 seconds into the game when Kleebaum scored on a two-on-one with sophomore Andrew Calof. Sophomore Jeremy Goodwin set up the goal for Kleebaum and Calof.
The lead would be shortlived as Alex Goodship tied the game at 3:00. Following the goal, there was a short stoppage in play to clear tennis balls off the ice, a Dartmouth student tradition to throw when hosting Princeton. Dartmouth would pick three delay of game penalties, one in each period, for the continued projectiles.
Dustin Walsh would give Dartmouth the lead when he scored on a rebound at 7:21. Less than two minutes into the second frame, Eric Robinson made it a two-goal game when he scored on the doorstep.
A power-play goal by sophomore Jack Berger cut the lead back to one, 3-2 at 14:11. Calof earned his second assist of the night and freshman Aaron Ave got his name on the score sheet with the secondary assist.Tyler Sikura expanded the lead for the Big Green again when he got one under goalie Mike Condon at 13:37 of the third period.
Two minutes later Kleebaum notched his second of the night, this time on the man-advantage with defenders Michael Sdao and Derrick Pallis assisting.
Down 4-3, Condon skated to the Tiger bench and Princeton added the extra skater at 1:01 to try to tie the game and force overtime. The Tigers worked the puck around in the Dartmouth zone but Taylor Boldt broke up a pass in and Brandon McNally batted the puck into the empty net.
Condon would go back to net for the final 16 seconds and finished the game with a total of 25 saves. James Mello stopped 36 shots in goal for Dartmouth.
Princeton outshot Dartmouth 39-30. The Tigers were 2 for 8 on the power play while the Big Green was 0 for 2.
Princeton falls to 1-3-1 overall and 1-2 in the ECAC while Dartmouth improves to 3-1 and 2-0 in league play.
The Tigers return home next weekend, Nov. 11 & 12 to host St. Lawrence and Clarkson at Baker Rink.
