Track & Field Opens Indoor Season Hosting New Year's Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. (12/8/11) - The Princeton indoor track & field season gets underway on Saturday, Dec. 10 when it hosts the New Year's Invitational at Jadwin Gym.
Fifteen schools will visit Jadwin Gym for the meet. They include: Cheyney, Coppin State (women), Delaware State, Georgian Court (women), Holy Family, Lafayette, Monmouth (men), Montclair State, Ramapo, Rider, Rutgers, St. Joseph's, Stevens Institute, TCNJ and Towson (women).
The meet begins at 11 a.m., with the men's weight throw and women's long jump. The last event of the day, the women's 4x8, is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Princeton won 12 of the 28 events last year. The Tigers swept the 60-meter hurdles and the 300 with Eileen Moran winning both for the women's team with times of 7.72 and 40.36, respectively. Kashif Smith won the hurdles at 6.91 and Austin Hollimon the 300 at 33.68. The women's team won two other races with Greta Feldman taking the mile in 5:08.09 and Molly Higgins winning the 1000 at 3:01.01.
Jumpers Damon McLean and Imani Oliver were victorious in their first collegiate meets. McLean won the men's long jump at 7.22 meters, and Oliver won the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.72 meters. Tory Worthen won the pole vault for the second straight year, clearing 3.90 meters. Thanithia Billings, the lone graduate of the bunch, won the women's weight and shot put.
