Women's Tennis Advances to ECAC Final Match Against Yale

PRINCETON -- It was a late night at Jadwin Gym for the Princeton women's tennis team, but the Tigers have won the right to play for the ECAC title Sunday afternoon.
With a 5-2 victory over Brown in the last match of a long Saturday on the indoor courts, top-seeded Princeton will face third-seeded Yale in a 2:30 p.m. championship match.
The Tigers and Bulldogs also collided in Princeton's last trip to the ECAC final two years ago, with Yale squeezing out a 4-3 win.
Against Brown, Princeton took matches at second and third doubles to clinch the first point, and Hilary Bartlett, Monica Chow, Katherine Flanigan and Blakely Ashley all won their singles matches in straight sets to put the Tigers over the top. Brown's two victories came in matches that ended in third-set tiebreaks after Princeton's team victory was already clinched.
Princeton's match against Yale will be the fourth for the Tigers this season against a fellow ITA-ranked team. The Bulldogs are No. 40 in the latest ITA ranking, four spots behind Princeton.
