Yale Tops Women's Tennis for ECAC Title

PRINCETON -- Yale won four singles matches to take the ECAC women's tennis title 4-2 against Princeton Sunday evening in Jadwin Gym.
The Tigers claimed the doubles point on a pair of 8-6 victories by Hilary Bartlett and Taylor Marable at first doubles and Blakely Ashley and Rachel Saiontz at third doubles, but Yale stormed back once singles play began.
After Yale grabbed wins at second and fifth singles, Monica Chow turned in a 6-2, 6-2 win at fourth singles to tie it at 2-2. Yale's Vicky Brook held off Hilary Bartlett in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 to put the Bulldogs on the brink of victory.
Sixth singles was the tipping point, as Ashley's rally from a 5-1 deficit in the third set stalled at 5-3 when Annie Sullivan put away a sixth game and won the match for Yale.
Princeton will head out on the road next weekend to Penn State for matches against Virginia Commonwealth Saturday and Penn State Sunday.
