February 24, 2011 | General, Women's Lacrosse, Women's Swimming and Diving, Women's Track and Field
Two student-athletes competing for Ivy League titles this weekend and a coach about to embark on the hunt for her 10th Ivy League title join the latest edition of TigerCast.
Senior Thanithia Billings is the reigning Ivy League indoor champion in the weight throw and comes into this weekend's Ivy League Heptagonal Championship meet in New York City with the top marks in both the weight throw and the shot put. Billings is looking to lead Princeton to its second consecutive Ivy League crown and talks about the excitement surrounding this particular championship meet.
Senior Ming Ong is the co-captain for the women's swimming and diving team and will be trying to lead Princeton to a tenth Ivy League title in the last 12 years. The 2011 Ivy League championships are being held this weekend at DeNunzio Pool, and Ong comes in with some of the strongest times in the distance events, including the Ivy's top mark in the 1000.
Chris Sailer enters her 26th season as the women's lacrosse coach and has guided the Tigers to three NCAA championships, 11 national semifinal appearances, 18 NCAA tournament appearances and nine Ivy League titles. After a tough 2010 season, when a young roster gained invaluable experience, Princeton will open its 2011 season at home Saturday with renewed energy and optimism.
