Track & Field Earns 40 All-Ivy League Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/18/11) - Thirty members of the Princeton track & field teams were named All-Ivy League, earning 40 all-league honors it was announced by the league office on Monday, February 28.
The Tigers swept the 2011 Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal with titles for both the men and women's teams for the second straight year.
Six members of the women's team were named First-Team All-Ivy League, including two double honorees. Double first-team honors were awarded to senior Ashley Higginson, who won both the 3,000 and 5,000, and sophomore Alexis Mikaelian who won the mile and was a member of the 4x800 relay. Greta Feldman, Molly Higgins and Kristin Smoot also earned first-team accolades as the remaining members of the relay, and Tory Worthen captured honors in the pole vault.
Four more earned second-team honors including double honoree Alex Banfich who was the runner up in both the 3,000 and 5,000. Eileen Moran, Samantha Anderson and Thanithia Billings were also named second-team in the 60, pole vault and shot put, respectively.
A record 15 members of the men's team earned 19 first-team honors awards. The Male Outstanding Performer of the Meet, Donn Cabral was a double first-team honoree winning the 3,000 and 5,000. Austin Hollimon and Mike Eddy who won the 400 and 500, respectively were also members of the 4x400 along with Tom Hopkins and Ricky Kearney. Mark Amirault won the mile and was a member of the distance medley relay, along with Trevor Van Ackeren, Nilan Schnure and Joe Stilin.
Other first-team honorees include: David Slovenski (pole vault), George Abyad (shot put), Craig Pearce (weight throw), Damon McLean (triple jump), Russell Dinkins (800), Peter Callahan (1000)
On top of earning first-team honors, Callahan and Dinkins also received second-team honors as members of the 4x800 relay. Kyle Soloff earned two second-team honors in both the mile and as a member of the 4x800. Also taking home second-team honors are Derek Hynes (pole vault), Dion Lehman (long jump), Patrick Park (shot put) and Jordan Sawadogo (4x800).
