EVANSTON, Ill. -- Princeton's men's tennis team celebrated its first match of the dual meet season as a ranked opponent by beating a fellow ranked team, sweeping No. 60 Northwestern 7-0.
Princeton's (2-0) first win was also over a ranked Big Ten foe when the Tigers got past No. 71 Penn State 4-3 last Saturday in Jadwin Gym. During the week, the Tigers entered the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll at No. 73.
The loss was Northwestern's (4-1) first of the dual meet season and came a week after the Wildcats defeated Princeton's Ivy foe Harvard.
Augie Bloom and Alex Faust were winners on both the doubles and singles courts as Princeton took two of three doubles matches to claim the first point and went six for six in singles to complete the sweep.
The Tigers will have a second match in the Chicago area when they face DePaul Sunday afternoon.
