CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Princeton's softball team dropped a pair of games Sunday at the University of Virginia's tournament to Syracuse and Fordham.
Syracuse, ranked No. 25 in the NFCA poll, topped the Tigers 9-1, with the Orange (18-5) scoring all their runs by the third inning in the run-rule shortened five-inning contest. Michelle Tolfa (0-3) handled the pitching duties for the Tigers, while Alex Peyton drove in Princeton's (1-5) run with a fourth-inning solo home run.
Fordham (13-10) won 5-1, taking a 3-0 lead through two innings against Peyton (1-2) in the circle. Kelsey VandeBergh's double brought home Princeton's run in the fourth inning.
Princeton will face Syracuse Monday at noon to close out the tournament.
