Calof Named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year
March 18, 2011 | Men's Ice Hockey
Calof led Princeton with 33 points during the regular season on nine goals and 24 assists to become Princeton's first 30-point scorer since the 2007-08 season. He is the first Princeton freshman to lead the team in scoring since Grant Goeckner-Zoeller had a team-high 20 points in the 2003-04 season. His 33 points is the fourth-highest total for a Princeton freshman. Calof was the only player in the ECAC to average better than a point per game in the regular season.
He becomes Princeton's third ECAC Rookie of the Year winner and the first since Andre Faust in 1989. John Messury was the other winner in 1986. Calof also earned third-team All-ECAC recognition and was named the All-Rookie Team. Calof was also recognized as a first-team All-Ivy this season and was the Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Year. He is one of three finalists, along with Union's Mat Bodie and St. Lawrence's Greg Carey for the ECAC Rookie of the Year Award.
