Brown, Yale Up Next for Tennis Teams
March 31, 2011 | Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis
The first full weekend of Ivy League play is ahead for the Princeton tennis teams Friday and Saturday with the women's team at home and the men's team heading to southern New England.
Both Princeton teams are ranked in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll released Tuesday, with the men at No. 58 and the women at No. 56, and both Tiger teams won their Ivy opener last Saturday against Penn and both by a 4-3 final.
The women's team (8-7, 1-0) will be facing its ninth and 10th ranked opponents of the season this weekend, hosting No. 43 Brown (11-6, 0-0) at 2 p.m. Friday and No. 29 Yale (15-3, 0-0) at noon Saturday. Friday's match is scheduled to take place in Jadwin Gymnasium due to the expected poor weather, while Saturday's match will be outdoors at the Lenz Tennis Center if the temperature, as forecasted, is above 50 degrees.
The men's team (8-6, 1-0) will head out on the road for the first time during the Ivy League season, taking on Brown (13-2, 0-0) at 2 p.m. Friday and Yale (8-7, 0-0) at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Next weekend will bring the men's team back to campus for home matches against Dartmouth and Harvard, while the women will head to northern New England for their first full league road weekend.
