Tennis Teams Meet Dartmouth, Harvard in Key Ivy Weekend
April 05, 2011 | Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis
Both Princeton tennis teams are in the thick of their Ivy League races as the season heads into a key league weekend.
The men's team will host Dartmouth Saturday and Harvard Sunday with both matches beginning at 2 p.m., while the women's team will be on the road with the same weekend schedule with both matches starting at noon.
The men's team stands at 3-0 for the second straight year, the first time Princeton has been 3-0 in Ivy play in back-to-back seasons since 2000 and 2001. Now at No. 59 in this week's ITA rankings, Princeton is one of three Ivy League men's teams along with Penn at No. 63 and Cornell at No. 46. Princeton and Cornell are the only league-undefeated teams in the Ivy heading into the weekend with Cornell at 2-0. Both Harvard and Dartmouth are 1-1 in league play.
On the women's side, Princeton's defeat of Yale kept the Tigers with just one league loss as they enter the weekend at 2-1 in the Ivy. Brown, Dartmouth and Harvard share the league lead at 2-0, and five of the eight Ivy programs are in this week's ITA top 75. Yale holds the top ranking at No. 35, with Brown at No. 43, Princeton at No. 49, Harvard at No. 55 and Dartmouth at No. 75.
The Dartmouth-Harvard weekend is the second-to-last Ivy weekend for Princeton, which will meet Columbia and Cornell next Friday and Sunday, respectively. The men will host the Lions on April 15, while the women will host Cornell on April 17.
