Women's Track to Compete in PYP Meet Saturday at Penn

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/6/11) - The Princeton women's track & field team will compete at the annual PYP Meet on Saturday, April 9 at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
The Tigers finished second in the PYP last year held on their home track. Penn won the meet with 89 points, followed by Princeton with 83 and Yale scoring 25. Thanithia Billings and Eileen Moran led Princeton as double winners.
Moran won both the 100 and 200. Moran sprinted to an 11.85 in the 100 and a 24.47, a personal best, in the 200.
Billings won the shot put with a throw of 14.07, dispatching the competition as the next thrower would reach just 12.68. She also won the discus with a mark of 42.31, besting the other throwers by nearly four meters. Billings was also part of the Tigers' sweep in the hammer throw, taking second place with a throw of 50.10 meters. Emma Ruggiero won the event with a throw of 57.71 crushing her personal best of 51.03.
Also posting wins was Ashley Higginson in the steeplechase and Sarah Cummings in the 3000.Runners-up included: KC Wade (high jump), Higginson (3000), Bianca Mathabane (100m hurdles), Lauren Lewis (400m hurdles), Alexis Mikaelian (800), Alex Banfich (1500) and the 4x100 relay.
