Women's Soccer Assistant Scott Champ Heading to Arizona State
May 16, 2011 | Women's Soccer
PRINCETON - Scott Champ, who has spent the past six seasons as the top assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Princeton women's soccer team, has taken an assistant coaching and recruiting coordinator position at Arizona State University.
Champ joined the Tigers and head coach Julie Shackford prior to the 2005 season, one year after the program advanced to the NCAA College Cup semifinal. During Champ's time in Princeton, the Tigers never had a losing season and won the Ivy League title in 2008, advancing to the NCAA tournament.
"Scott Champ has been a great addition to our staff at here at Princeton for the last six years," Shackford said. "He has been a tremendous coach on the field, and he has been just as valuable to the experience our student-athletes have had here off the field as a mentor and teacher. Every member of our program, especially me, will miss him and his wonderful family, and we wish him all the best success at Arizona State."
