May 19 TigerCast: Chris Sailer and Bob Prier
May 19, 2011 | General, Men's Ice Hockey, Women's Lacrosse
Women's lacrosse head coach Chris Sailer and new men's ice hockey head coach Bob Prier join the latest edition of TigerCast.
Sailer, who has led Princeton to three NCAA championships during her Hall of Fame career, has the 2011 women's lacrosse team playing its best at the right time. After knocking off top-seeded Penn and Harvard to win the Ivy League tournament, the Tigers went on the road last weekend and defeated eighth-seeded James Madison by one goal to advance to the national quarterfinal. On the eve of Princeton's matchup with top-ranked Maryland, Sailer discusses the program's turnaround and what it will take to pull off its biggest upset in years.
Prier has been in the ECAC as either a player or coach for more than a decade, but he will begin his first stint as a head coach next season with the Princeton men's hockey team. After nine years as an assistant at his alma mater, St. Lawrence, Prier was recently selected to replace Guy Gadowsky and attempt to continue driving Princeton to the top of both the ECAC and the NCAA. Prier talks about his background, some of the coaching ideals he learned from coaching legend Joe Marsh and his thoughts on the Princeton team that he helped eliminate from the past postseason.
