May 31, 2011 | Women's Tennis
PRINCETON -- Coming off its seventh straight winning season, the Princeton women's tennis team will add three members of the incoming Class of 2015 for the 2011-12 campaign.
The class was ranked 16th in all of Division I by TennisRecruiting.net in rankings announced May 30.
"We are thrilled to welcome such a talented and well-rounded group of student-athletes to our Princeton tennis family," Princeton head coach Megan Bradley said. "I have no doubt that Katie, Lindsay and Joan are committed to maintaining the reputation, work ethic and competitiveness that have defined Princeton Tennis. All three young ladies are accomplished singles and doubles players, so I am excited to see the impact they will have this fall. Aside from being great tennis players, they are also great people and I look forward to seeing them fully experience all that Princeton has to offer."
Joan Cannon of Kingston, Ont., is a two-time provincial doubles champion and singles finalist while being ranked as high as No. 1 in Ontario and No. 8 in Canada in singles play.
Katianne Goepel of Chatham, N.J., is ranked as a five-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.net as the top player in New Jersey and the 35th-ranked player nationally.
Lindsay Graff of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is ranked as a blue chip recruit by TennisRecruiting.net as the top player in Florida and the No. 14 player nationally. Graff won this year's Florida high school 2A singles title while becoming a National Merit Finalist at Pine Crest School and a Miami Herald Scholar-Athlete.
The trio will join seven returners from a 2011 team that finished 5-2 in the Ivy League, one match behind co-champions Dartmouth and Yale. Among the returners are junior Hilary Bartlett, a three-time first-team All-Ivy League singles and doubles honoree, as well as junior Rachel Saiontz, Princeton's No. 2 singles player and a second-team All-Ivy honoree in singles and doubles, and sophomore Monica Chow, a second-team All-Ivy doubles honoree along with Saiontz.
