Princeton is 1-3-1 overall with its last game being a 3-0 loss at Georgetown on Sept. 18. The Tigers are outshooting their opponents 15-12 and have gotten out in front of their defenders for a 41-22 corner kick differential. Four players are tied atop the scoring column with two points. Senior Antoine Hoppenot, junior captain Mark Linnville and freshman Cameron Porter each have two points, while sophomore defender Chris Benedict has one points. Junior Max Gallin has started all five games and has made 18 saves on 25 shots for a 1.31 goals against average and a .720 save percentage. Four of Gallin's seven allowed goals have been on penalty kicks.
Monmouth is 5-2 on the season most recently defeating Columbia 1-0 on Thursday night. It marked the Hawks first road win of the season, as the other four victories came at home. All five of the squad's wins are by a 1-0 margin. The Hawks have a heavy upperhand in shots taking 12.7 per game, while limited teams to 8.1. Monmouth has had seven different players score its seven goals. Senior RJ Allen leads the team with one goal and five assists for seven points. Freshman Kalie Sotka has four points while junior Ryan Clark and sophomore Joseph Schmid have three points apiece. Junior Alex Blackburn has been in goal every minute and has earned five shutouts. He has made 16 saves, including one on a PK, and allowed five goals for a 0.71 goals against average and a .762 save percentage
Princeton has a slim 3-2-1 edge in the all-time series that began in 1991. Monmouth has won the last two meetings including a 1-0 game during the Princeton Invitational on Sept. 20, 2009. A goal by Drew Von Bargen in the 5th minute was all No. 19-ranked Monmouth needed to secure a 1-0 win. A Princeton corner kick didn't go as planned as Ryan Kinne got the ball in the midfield and sprinted down the field. He delivered a great cross to Von Bargen who had a clean shot at the net with no defenders in sight, going to the left of junior goalkeeper Sean Lynch. Princeton had a slight edge in shots, 18-15 and took nine corners to Monmouth's four. Lynch finished the game with five saves, while Monmouth's keeper picked up four shots.
