Live Stats
Fairleigh Dickinson will be the opponent when the Princeton men's soccer team hosts its first match of the fall on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium Friday night.
The Tigers, Ivy League champions in 2010, began their season last weekend in Charleston, S.C., participating in a College of Charleston-hosted tournament by tying the host Cougars before losing to Furman 1-0.
Fairleigh Dickinson has been at it for a week longer, defeating NJIT on Aug. 26 before getting a win at Navy and a loss at UMBC last weekend in Maryland. The Tigers hold a 14-5-1 all-time advantage in the series against FDU and have won four straight, including a 1-0 victory in the season opener last year on the road and a 2-1 double-overtime win in FDU's last visit to Princeton two years ago.
The Princeton starting lineup through the first two games was a relatively young one, with three freshmen among the 10 in the field and a first-year starter, Max Gallin, between the posts. Meanwhile, just two members of the senior class, 2010 Ivy League Player of the Year Antoine Hoppenot and Colby Hahn, were among the starting lineup.
Gallin, a junior, gave up just one goal in 200 minutes in net, but the Tigers couldn't convert on the other end. Junior Matt Sanner led the team with four shots on goal and eight overall between the two games.
Three Knights have split FDU's three goals, while sophomore Jacob Lissek has given up just two goals in 279 minutes. A year ago, FDU was 9-7-2 overall, falling to Monmouth in the first round of the Northeast Conference tournament.
The FDU game is the first of eight home contests for Princeton this season and the first of back-to-back Fridays on which the Tigers will be home. Princeton will host Villanova next week.
