Mississippi State Defeats Men's Tennis in ITA Kickoff Opener

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Fourteenth-ranked Mississippi State advanced in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Kickoff Classic hosted by Texas A&M Saturday afternoon, defeating the 63rd-ranked Princeton men's tennis team 4-0.
The Bulldogs took matches at second and third doubles each by scores of 8-2 to win one point before winning matches at third, fourth and fifth singles to clinch the match, at which point play was halted. At sixth singles, Ravi Yegya-Raman led Mississippi State's Zach White in the second set after dropping the first set.
Princeton, which opened its dual-meet season with the Mississippi State match, will face No. 72 Purdue Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. The Boilermakers fell to No. 11 Texas A&M 6-1 later Saturday.
