Fencers Win 10 of 13 Saturday at Northwestern
February 05, 2012 | Men's Fencing, Women's Fencing
Princeton's fencing teams won 10 of 13 dual-meet bouts Saturday on the first of two days of competition at the Northwestern Duals.
Both Princeton teams are ranked No. 2 in the nation in the most recent CollegeFencing360.com poll. The women's team had six matches including two against teams ranked in the top 10. While the Tiger women took care of the four bouts against unranked foes rather decisively, both sixth-ranked Ohio State and third-ranked Notre Dame got past Princeton 15-12.
Princeton's men also battled fifth-ranked Ohio State and fourth-ranked Notre Dame while winning five additional meets against unranked teams. The Tiger men fell to OSU 15-12 but got past Notre Dame 14-13.
The meet at Northwestern will wrap Sunday as the Tigers prepare for the Ivy Round-Robin next weekend.
