Trio of Tigers Advance to USASA Women's Cup National Tournament
June 18, 2012 | Women's Soccer
Rising seniors Jen Hoy and Rachel Sheehy and sophomore Liana Cornacchio helped the New York Athletic Club team advance to the U.S. Adult Soccer Association's Women's Cup national semifinals by capturing the Region I title on Sunday, June 17.
Cornacchio scored two second-half goals in the win over Battle Row at the tournament in Horsham, Pa.
The team will play again on July 20 at Toyota Park in Chicago, Ill., against the Region IV winner and would play in the national final on July 22 with a win.
Hoy led Princeton in scoring with eight goals last season, and Sheehy and Cornacchio were two more of Princeton's 13 goal scorers in 2011, 12 of whom return this fall.
