PU Men's Soccer Looks to Bounce Back
Bob Nuse, Princeton Packet (8/31/12)
Jim Barlow knows the bounces go your way some years and then some years they don't.
Two years ago everything fell into place for Barlow and his Princeton University men's soccer team. The Tigers went 13-4-1, winning the Ivy League and advancing to the NCAA tournament. Along the way they won seven one-goal games and were unbeaten in league play.
Last year PU had seven one-goal losses on the way to a 5-10-2 overall record and 1-5-1 in the Ivy League
"You can look at the year before when we won the league and we had a lot of even games that went our way," said Barlow, whose team will open its season tonight at 7 p.m. at Seton Hall. "We had a lot of closely contested games last year we gave up too many easy goals and were too easy to score on. We have been working on playing tighter defense and defending better on restarts and counters."
