PRINCETON, N.J. (9/10/12) - The Princeton men's soccer team takes on its second nationally ranked squad of the season when it hosts No. 12 Georgetown on Friday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.
Georgetown is 3-0-1 in the series and took a 3-0 win last year. The last time the Hoyas were at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium in 2010, the team's played a 1-1 tie.
The Tigers enter the weekend with a 1-2 record with a win over Seton Hall and losses to No. 12 St. John's and Rutgers. Offensively, Princeton is led by brothers Matt and Thomas Sanner and sophomore Julian Griggs. Senior Sanner and Griggs both have one goal, while freshman Sanner has two assists. Senior Max Gallin has played every minute in goal and has made 16 saves on 22 shots for a .727 save percentage and a 2.00 goals against average.
Georgetown has played double the number of games as Princeton and has defeated Virginia in OT, Florida Gulf Coast, Cal State Northridge, Penn State and Illinois-Chicago. The team most recently recorded a 1-1 draw with Wisconsin. Brandon Allen is the Hoyas leading scorer with four goals and one assist. Three of his four goals have been game winners. Andy Riemer adds two goals, while Steve Neumann has a goal and an assist. Tomas Gomaz has picked up two shutouts in goal and has surrendered just five goals on 25 shots for a 0.79 GAA and an .800 save percentage.
