Davies, McCourt Capture Penn Invite Doubles Title
September 30, 2012 | Men's Tennis
• Dan Davies and Zack McCourt won twice Sunday to claim the Penn Invitational "A" Flight doubles title, giving Princeton the top doubles title in each of their first three fall tournaments.
• McCourt had teamed with Matija Pecotic to win the Farnsworth/Princeton Invitational and the USTA Collegiate Invitational over the last two weekends.
• Princeton head coach Billy Pate said: "We had another positive weekend for the third week in a row. I'm very pleased with our doubles and it was encouraging to see McCourt win his third straight tournament in doubles. He and Davies played with tremendous energy and confidence today which clearly contributed to their success. Jonathan (Carcione) had a great tournament despite today's outcome. His opponent played an exceptional match and just didn't give Jonathan many chances. All in all, everyone enjoyed a certain degree of success and through the volume of play the last three weeks we've been able to learn a great deal about our team."• The next event on the Princeton calendar is Matija Pecotic's first match in the ITA All-America main draw singles event Thursday in Tulsa, Okla.
