QUEENS, N.Y. (9/5/12) - No. 12 St. John's handed the Princeton men's soccer team its first loss of the season in a 3-0 game on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Belson Stadium in Queens, N.Y.
Jimmy Mulligan put the Johnnies on the board in the 8th minute when he picked up a pass from Nick Matthews and side stepped his defender and fired to the opposite side of the goal.
Daniel Herrera gave St. John's a cushion in the 79th minute when he bent a chipped ball in on goal that was too high and far back for senior goalkeeper Max Gallin to get a hand on.
With less than four minutes remaining Jelani Williams sealed the win when he picked up a loose ball after Gallin tried to collect a cross but Sean Sepe was able to kick it free and send tap it over to Williams for the goal.
Gallin made three saves in goal for the Tigers, while Rafael Diaz stopped two shots for St. John's on the other end.
St. John's had a 12-4 edge in shots and had one more corner kick than Princeton, 4-3.
