Lazo Wins Ivy Player of the Week Honor
November 04, 2013 | Women's Soccer
Princeton junior forward Lauren Lazo is the Ivy League Player of the Week for women's soccer, thanks to her team-best five points on a goal and three assists.
Lazo's performance helped Princeton to a 2-0 week with defeats of Colgate and Cornell. It's her first Ivy Player of the Week honor of the season and first for Princeton since freshman Tyler Lussi opened her collegiate career by sweeping the Player and Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 9. Lazo also won the Player of the Week award in each of the final two weeks of the 2012 season as Princeton completed a 7-0-0 Ivy campaign on the way to the 2012 NCAA tournament.
Last week, Lazo had an assist on Princeton's first goal at Colgate in an eventual 2-1 win over the Raiders, and she saved her other four points on the week for the Tigers' 4-0 win over Cornell. Lazo assisted on each of Princeton's first two goals and then scored the team's third goal, giving the ball up to Erika Hoglund before Hoglund gave it back to Lazo for the score.
Lazo will wrap her penultimate season with the Orange and Black Friday night at Penn.
