Women's Lights Record Successful Final Test Prior To Sprints
April 30, 2013 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
The third-ranked Princeton women's lightweight rowing team had a successful final test prior to the 2013 EAWRC Championships. The Tigers defeated Bucknell, the 2012 Sprints runner-up, in a modified 1500-meter showdown on Lake Carnegie.
Princeton, which defeated Georgetown for the Class of 2006 Cup Saturday afternoon, finished the course in a winning time of 4:58.5, while Bucknell took second in 5:04.5.
The Tigers are now 3-0 in dual races, including its season-opening victory over reigning Sprints champion Wisconsin. The only Eastern program with a victory over Princeton is Harvard, which is currently the nation's top-ranked team. Both teams, as well as Wisconsin, Bucknell and Georgetown, will be among the field at Sunday's Eastern Sprints championship on Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
