Pecotic, the three-time Ivy League Player of the Year is appearing in his second straight NCAA singles tournament. He was an unseeded player a year ago, ranked 118th at the time by the ITA, and fell in the first round to Florida's Nassim Slilam, the ITA 53rd-ranked player.
The bracket was announced Wednesday, and Pecotic is the seeded player in a group of four that includes Contini, Andrew Bettles of Boise State and Yannick Hanfmann of USC. The player who emerges from that foursome could face top-seeded Mikelis Libietis of Tennessee in the Round of 16.
Pecotic is ranked 15th in the nation on the latest ITA list, while Contini is ranked 61st. Bettles is ranked 40th and Hanfmann is 45th.
Against fellow ITA top-125 ranked opponents, Pecotic is 15-3 this season, including 5-3 against players ranked as high as Contini's No. 61.
