Colautti to Play for Berth in U.S. Open Juniors Draw
August 27, 2013 | Men's Tennis
Incoming Princeton men's tennis freshman Thomas Colautti will head to the U.S. Open facility in New York to play for a berth in the Open's boys' singles bracket.
Colautti's play will begin Friday, Aug. 30, as one of 32 players in the qualifying draw. Two wins will get him a berth in the main draw, and Colautti will open against 16-year-old Henrik Wiersholm, the No. 15 seed in the 32-player draw. The match is the third in a four-match series to begin at 10 a.m. The qualifying matches are played on the practice court outside the main gate to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, and admission is free.
The 64-player main draw will be unveiled Saturday, Aug. 31. The qualifying draw can be found here.
Colautti, from Great Britain, played in the boys' singles draw at Wimbledon earlier this summer, extending his Round of 64 match to a third set before being outlasted by Thai player Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul, the No. 1 seed in the U.S. Open juniors qualifying draw.
