Women's Tennis Splits Squad to Open Fall Season
September 19, 2013 | Women's Tennis
Both Philadelphia and Kansas City will be calling on the Princeton women's tennis team this weekend as the Tigers open the fall campaign.
In Kansas City, Princeton will be participating in the Mizzou Tennis Aces for the Cure event, where Tiger players will be competing against those from Oklahoma State, Nebraska and host Missouri. Three of the four teams, with Nebraska in place of Tulsa, sent players to the event a year ago, when it was held on campus at Missouri. This year, the event, which will run from Friday through Sunday, moves to The Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, where senior Katherine Flanigan and rookies Alanna Wolff and Dorothy Tang will represent Princeton.
In Philadelphia, junior Joan Cannon and freshmen Sivan Krems and Caroline Joyce will head to the Cissie Leary Invitational hosted by Penn. The Tigers and Quakers will join players from Akron, Bowdoin, Columbia, Cornell, Delaware, Drexel, LIU Brooklyn, Maryland, Penn State, Rhode Island, Richmond, St. John's and Temple.
The Tigers last competed in the Leary tournament, which will also run from Friday through Sunday, in 2010.
