PRINCETON, N.J. (1/7/14) - The Princeton women's track team resumes competition when it hosts St. John's and St. John's in a tri-meet on Friday, Jan. 10 at Jadwin Gym.
The Tigers have hosted St. John's, St. Joseph's and Rutgers in a Quad Meet each of the last three seasons. This is the first time Rutgers will not compete. Princeton has won the meet all three times.
Last year, Julia Ratcliffe headlined the evening by throwing an Ivy League record in the weight throw for the second time this year. The New Zealand native threw 19.69 (64-7.25), topping her previous record of 19.58 (64-3). The Tigers won nine events in addition to Ratcliffe's record-setting throw.
Senior Tory Worthen won her second pole vault of the year, clearing 3.78 (12-0.475), junior Imani Oliver won her second triple jump event with a mark of 12.21 (40-00.75). In the mile, senior Mel Newbery and junior Molly Higgins finished in the top two spots, respectively. Newberry won the event with a time of 4.51.45, while Higgins finished less than eight seconds later with a time of 4.58.93. Princeton also finished with the top-two spots in the 500. Senior captain Joie Hand won her first event of the season with a time of 1:15.23 and classmate Melissa Zajdel came in 24-seconds later with a time of 1:15.47. Junior Kim Mackay won her first individual event in the 800 with a time of 2:18.66. Sophomores Emily de La Bruyere and Jackie Nicholas completed the 3k 12 seconds apart to finish first and second, respectively. de La Bruyere won the event with a time of 9:33.26 and Nicholas finished at 9:45.42. Rounding out Princeton's event winners was a 1-2-3 finish in the 5k by freshman Lindsay Eysenbach, sophomore Sophie Harkins and freshman Amanda Chang. Eysenbach won the event with a time of 17:41.52, while Harkins and Change followed at 18:35.03 and 18:39.58, respectively.
