USTA/ITA Regional Ahead for Men's Tennis
October 14, 2014 | Men's Tennis
Eight players from the Princeton men's tennis team will head to the indoor courts at the USTA National Tennis Center in New York for the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional beginning Thursday. St. John's is serving as host for the event, and admission is free.
Dan Richardson and Diego Vives will start play Thursday in the singles qualifying draw, while Zack McCourt, Josh Yablon, Tom Colautti, Alex Day, Kial Kaiser and Luke Gamble will start singles play Friday in the main draw.
Doubles play will also begin Friday in the main draw for Princeton's three pairs, which are McCourt and Day, Colautti and Gamble, and Yablon and Kaiser. The tournament will run through Tuesday.
At last year's event, hosted by Yale, McCourt and Colautti made the furthest advance in singles play, advancing to the main-draw Round of 32, and Augie Bloom and Jonathan Carcione advanced to the Round of 16 in doubles play.
Princeton will have two weekends of play remaining in the fall after the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional, sending players to tournaments at Florida Gulf Coast and to the USTA Clay Court tournament in Orlando, Florida from Oct. 31-Nov. 2, and to the Lakewood Ranch Invitational in Sarasota, Florida, Nov. 7-9. Any Tigers who advance to the USTA/ITA National tournament will head back to New York for that tournament Nov. 6-9.
Draws are posted at the PDF link on this page.
