PRINCETON, N.J. (10/16/14) - The Tigers look to turn a 1-1 Ivy League record in the right direction when they travel to face Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 18. Game time is at 4 p.m., at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium.
Princeton and Columbia are tied in the league standings with matching 1-1 records. Columbia dropped a 1-0 game at Brown and beat Penn 2-1 on the road. Princeton lost to Dartmouth 2-1 in OT and topped Brown 2-1, both at home.
The Tigers are on a three-game winning streak and have won five of their last six games. Overall the team sports a 6-3-2 record. Senior Cameron Porter leads the team and the Ivy League in goals and points. He has nine goals and adds three assists for 21 points. Nationally, Porter ranks fifth in goals and sixth in points. Junior Thomas Sanner isn't far behind with seven goals and two assists for 16 points to sit second in the league in points and goals. He leads the team in game-winning goals with three. Senior Julian Griggs and junior Nico Hurtado add five points apiece, while junior Brendan McSherry and senior Myles McGinlay chip in four each. Six others have a point or more. Junior Ben Hummel has collected four shutouts, including last Tuesday's 1-0 win over Loyola. He has a 1.48 goals against average and a .707 save percentage.
Columbia is 4-5 overall but unlike Princeton did not play a midweek game this week. The team averages and allows the same number of goals, 1.33 goals per game. Rhys Williams and Francisco Agrest sit atop the scoring column with seven points as each has scored three goals and one assist. Arthur Bosua has four points on one goal and two helpers while Antonio Matarazzo has collected a team-best three assists. Kyle Jackson has started in goal in all but two games. He has a 3-4 record with a 1.52 GAA and a .633 save percentage. Dylan Castanheira backs up and has a 0.50 GAA and a .750 save percentage in two games played.
