Saitta Scores as Princeton Men's Soccer Ties Columbia 1-1

NEW YORK, N.Y. (10/18/14) - Senior defender Joe Saitta scored his second straight goal in Ivy League play as the Princeton men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Columbia at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 18.
Columbia (4-5-1, 1-1-1) got on the board in the 4th minute with a goal by Andrew Tinari. Teammate Francisco Agrest had back-to-back shots get blocked by the Princeton defense before Tinari got the final kick and put it away for the early lead.
Saitta evened it up in the 16th minute when he attempted a long cross into the box that bent past Columbia keeper Kyle Jackson and into the back of the net.
Columbia had a 14-12 edge in shots, while Princeton had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior Ben Hummel made seven saves in goal for the Tigers, while Kyle Jackson made three stops for the Lions.
Princeton is now 6-3-3 overall and 1-1-1- in Ivy League play.
Princeton hosts Harvard on Saturday, Oct 25 at 7 p.m., on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium. Harvard is unbeaten in Ivy play at 2-0-1 after a 1-1 tie with Brown this afternoon.
