PRINCETON, N.J. (9/30/14) - The Ivy League season begins Saturday as the Princeton men's soccer team hosts Dartmouth at 4 p.m., on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
The Tigers have won the last two meetings with the Big Green, by matching 2-1 scores. Princeton has yet to yield a win to Dartmouth at home since 2002. Last year it was Cameron Porter and Thomas Sanner with the goals for the Tigers as they rallied from a one-goal deficit.
Princeton is 3-2-2 on the season and enters league play with on a three-game unbeaten streak. The Tigers have arguably the two best strikers in the league in senior Cameron Porter and this week's Ivy League Player of the Week Thomas Sanner. Both have scored four goals with Porter leading in points with 10 thanks to two assists, while Sanner has one assist for nine points. Senior Julian Griggs has five points in four games, while senior Myles McGinley adds a league-best four assists. Junior Ben Hummel has played every minute in goal and has a 1.58 goals against average and a .676 save percentage making 25 stops on 37 shots and has three shutouts.
Dartmouth is 4-2-1 and is riding a five-game unbeaten streak of 3-0-2. The team's two losses came at the start of the season to nationally-ranked Notre Dame and Indiana. On Tuesday night the Big Green defeated Vermont 2-1 in double overtime. Alex Adelabu, who led the team in scoring in 2013, along with Robin Alnas are at the top of the scoring column once again with six points on two goals and two assists. Like Princeton, Dartmouth has balanced scoring with 10 different goal scorers and 14 players with points. The Danilack brothers provide support in scoring as High has five points with a team-best three assists, and Matt has two goals for four points. Stefan Cleveland has started in goal in the first six games and has a 1.15 GAA and a .684 save percentage, making 13 saves on 19 shots and collecting two shutouts. James Hickok got the nod against Vermont and has played in three games. He has a 1.39 GAA and a .727 save percentage in just under 200 minutes.
