Porter Named Ivy League and Suburban Transit Player of the Week
October 27, 2014 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. (10/27/14) - Senior Cameron Porter has been named both the Ivy League Player of the Week and the Suburban Transit GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week.
Porter scored two goals, including the game-winning goal, as Princeton defeated Harvard 3-2. It extends Princeton's unbeaten streak to five, and ends Harvard's nine game unbeaten streak as the Tigers hand the Crimson its first league loss of the season. Porter was a factor in all three goals. The first goal was scored by McSherry on a free kick after Porter was dragged down on his way to the goal just outside the 18. He was taken down again, this time inside the box, in the 43rd minute and converted his fifth penalty kick of the season. Porter scored his second goal, the game winner, in the 49th minute taking on a defender and the goalkeeper, beating them both with a goal to the lower right corner.
Porter now has 11 goals on the season, as Princeton sits in second place in the league standings and still in contention for the title.
Princeton travels to Cornell this Saturday, Nov. 1 for a 5 p.m., game with the Big Red.
