Fencers to Start Season at Ohio State Dual Event
November 12, 2014 | Men's Fencing, Women's Fencing
Princeton's fencing teams will open the competition season Sunday with a challenging slate of dual matches hosted by Ohio State.
The men, who were 18-11 a year ago, return five of their six NCAA championship participants from last year, led by All-America honorees Jack Hudson (épée), Michael Dudey (foil), and Peter Pak (saber). The women, who were 31-0 a year ago, have won 51 straight dual matches and return three of their six NCAA championship participants from last season, including All-Americas Ambika Singh, Sharon Gao and Gracie Stone.
While Princeton brought home a top-four trophy for the fourth straight year from the 2014 NCAA Championships, becoming the only school to finish in the top four annually from 2011-14, the Ohio State event's schedule will test the Tigers. Princeton will start the day against defending NCAA champion Penn State at 8 a.m., No. 4 finisher Ohio State at 9:30, sixth finisher Notre Dame at 10:45, North Carolina, which placed 19th, at 12:30 p.m., and No. 8 finisher Penn at 1:45. A competition featuring 15-touch bouts to determine the event's individual champions will start at 3 p.m.
