PRINCETON, N.J. (11/6/14) - It's Senior Day on Saturday as the Princeton men's soccer team hosts Penn in the final home game of the regular-season in a quest to win the Ivy League, while honoring the Class of 2015. Game time is at 7 p.m., on Nov. 8 on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
Penn holds a slight edge in the all-time series, 49-43-10, since the teams first met in 1915. It was the Quakers that spoiled the Tigers run at the Ivy League title last year as Princeton suffered a 2-1 defeat in Philadelphia sending Penn on its way to the championship.
Princeton is 9-3-3 overall and is tied for first in the Ivy League standings, along with Dartmouth, with a 3-1-1 conference mark. The Tigers recently extended their unbeaten streak to seven, 6-0-1, with a 2-0 shutout at American on Wednesday. Senior Cameron Porter, who ranks second nationally in points per game, has 29 points in 15 games. He has scored 13 goals and adds three assists. Porter is fifth in program history in points with 70 and sixth in goals with 29. With one more goal he will tie current assistant coach Jesse Marsch '96 and Mike Nugent '03 who each scored 30. Junior Thomas Sanner has 18 points with eight goals and two assists, ranking himself second in the league in both points and goals. Juniors Brendan McSherry and Nico Hurtado follow with seven and six points, respectively. Nine other players have a point or more. Junior Ben Hummel has a 1.33 goals against average and a .738 save percentage. He earned his fifth shutout on Wednesday at American, making six stops.
Penn is 6-7-2 overall and is tied for third in the league, along with Harvard at 2-1-2. Both teams are two points back from Princeton and Dartmouth. The Quakers most recently tied Brown 1-1 and haven't won a game since Oct. 18 at Dartmouth, a 2-1 game. Duke Lacroix has seven goals and five assists for 19 points, while Alec Neumann has 17 points on six goals and five helpers. Forrest Clancy is the third player in double digits with 12 points on three goals and a team-high six assists. Max Polkinhorne has played all but 30 minutes in net and has three shutouts. He has a 1.71 GAA and a .737 save percentage.
