BOX SCORE
With all four of its available seniors in the starting lineup, the Princeton women's volleyball team played an inspired match Saturday evening in the home finale of its 2014 season. The Tigers avenged an earlier 3-2 road loss by sweeping Dartmouth in three sets.
While 2013 All-Ivy middle Tiana Woolridge was unavailable because of a career-ending preseason injury, the quartet of Nicole Kincade, Francie Jenkins, Sarah Hanna and Ginny Willis was able to help push Princeton to a 25-18, 25-19, 28-26 home win over Dartmouth. The victory keeps Princeton mathematically alive in the Ivy League race, though it would need incredible help and a road sweep to get a share of the title.
Kincade, in the late stages of the best season of her career, led the Tigers with 11 kills and four blocks, while fellow middle Brittany Ptak recorded 11 kills without an error and added two blocks. Hanna led all outsides with seven kills and made only one error, while Jenkins had four kills and three digs. Willis, a two-time All-Ivy setter, had 14 assists in the win.
Junior Kendall Peterkin came off the bench and added nine kills, while junior libero Sarah Daschbach had a team-high 22 digs. Sophomore Lauren Miller added 24 assists.
Princeton fought off two set balls in the third on kills from Ptak and Peterkin. The latter evened the score at 26-26, and Ptak gave Princeton its second match point of the night with her 11th kill. Peterkin finished the job on the defensive end, blocking a swing by Emily Patrick for the win.
Princeton will head to Yale next weekend to match up against the reigning Ivy League champion Bulldogs. Both Yale and Harvard share the Ivy League lead with 10-2 records.
