OFFENSE • Princeton's most-used middle infielders return, but the team's corner infielders do not. Rachel Rendina, who started 28 games at second base last season, and Alyssa Schmidt, who started 27 at shortstop, are both juniors. • The Tigers will be looking to replace corner infielders Nikki Chu (third base) and Alex Peyton (first base). Five players saw time at first base last season when Peyton was pitching.• Junior Rachel Rendina led the Tigers in hits last season, with 50. • Princeton had 388 hits last season and 229 remain. The Tigers hit .296 as a team last year, but returning players hit .303 last season. • Princeton out-homered its opposition 41-18 last season. Only 16 of those home runs return, however, as the players with the most (Alex Peyton, 11), second-most (Nikki Chu, 6) and third-most (Lizzy Pierce, 5) homers graduated. • Princeton's top three hitters for average from last season return, including sophomore Kayla Bose (25-71, .352), Alyssa Schmidt (46-131, .351) and Rendina (50-143, .350) • Princeton led the Ivy League last season with its .296 average. |
