April 14, 2014 | Women's Track and Field
NEW ORLEANS (4/14/14) - Sophomore Julia Ratcliffe has been named the Division I Women's National Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
This is the first time a Princeton athlete has earned the elite honor.
Ratcliffe put her name in multiple records boooks this past weekend. She threw a personal record, a New Zealand national record, an Ivy League record and a Princeton school record in the hammer throw. Her mark of 69.60 (228-4) moves her to No. 9 on the all-time collegiate performers list and established a new collegiate dual/tri/quad meet record. Each of her three other legal throws traveled farther than 67 meters and would have stood as the 2014 collegiate leader.
