Graff Named Ivy League Women's Tennis Player of the Year
April 30, 2014 | Women's Tennis
Following her 7-0 Ivy League season, junior Lindsay Graff has been named the Ivy League Player of the Year by a unanimous vote of the league's coaches, the league office announced Wednesday.
Graff is the third Tiger to win Ivy Player of the Year honors, joining Hilary Bartlett '12 in 2010 and Kavitha Krishnamurthy '03 in 2000. The award was first given in 1995.
Graff swept through the league at the No. 1 singles spot, becoming the first Tiger to do so since Bartlett in her Ivy Player of the Year season of 2010. Graff was also honored with a place on the first-team All-Ivy League in both singles and doubles, teaming with freshman Alanna Wolff for the doubles honor.
Graff has earned All-Ivy honors in both singles and doubles in each of her first three seasons with the program. As a freshman in 2012, she was a second-team singles pick and a first-team doubles selection with Bartlett. A season ago, Graff was a singles first-teamer and a doubles second-teamer with current junior Joan Cannon.
Graff has an 18-4 dual-match record on the season overall with a nine-match win streak that includes her perfect 7-0 Ivy season. In doubles, Graff and Wolff had a 6-2 dual-match record together on the spring season overall and 4-1 in Ivy play, each time at the No. 1 spot. The pair are on a four-match win streak and are ranked No. 56 in the nation by the ITA.
Wolff, who has an ITA singles ranking of 107th in the nation, is a second-team All-Ivy League singles honoree. She has a singles record of 22-5 overall and 6-1 in Ivy League play, moving up from the No. 4 spot in the Ivy-opening match against Penn to the No. 2 position for the final weekend against Cornell and Columbia while winning her last five Ivy matches.
After helping the team to a 7-0 Ivy League record an the outright league title, Graff, Wolff and their Tiger teammates will open the NCAA tournament against Arizona State on May 9 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
