Van Brummen, Stone, Holmes to Compete in Senior World Fencing Championships

A trio of current and former Princeton fencers are headed to Russia to compete in the Senior World Championships beginning July 15.
Épées Katharine Holmes, a rising senior, and Anna Van Brummen, a rising junior, will join saber Eliza Stone '13 in Kazan, which is located about 500 miles east of Moscow.
Individual saber bouts will be contested July 15 and 18 with the individual épée competition set for July 17 and 20. The team saber competition is scheduled for July 20, with the team epee bouts set for July 22.
Holmes and Van Brummen are two of four Americans and 130 competitors overall signed up for the individual épée event, and Stone is one of four U.S. fencers and 106 overall in the individual saber competition. Twenty-nine nations are entered in the team épée event and 23 will compete in the team saber competiton.
