PRINCETON, N.J. (9/15/14) - The Princeton men's soccer team hosts No. 6 Georgetown in an ESPNU live-televised game on Wednesday night, Sept. 17. The game is set to begin at 7:05 p.m. Check your local listings for channel information. The game can also be seen on WatchESPN.
Princeton is 1-1-1 and coming off of its first win of the season, a 5-4 game at Seton Hall on Sunday. The Tigers have played two overtime games this season, suffering a 3-2 loss in the season opener at FDU before a scoreless draw with St. John's in the home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Senior Cameron Porter has scored three goals to lead the team in scoring for the second season. Senior Julian Griggs has five points on two goals and one assists. Junior Thomas Sanner and senior Myles McGinley have three points apiece, with Sanner scoring a goal and an assist and McGinley getting all three of his points via assists. Junior Andrew Doar has one goal to his credit and classmate Nico Hurtado has one helper. Junior Ben Hummel has been Princeton's go-to goalkeeper. He has a 2.09 goals against average and a .667 save percentage making 14 saves on 21 shots and has been credited with one shutout.
The Hoyas are undefeated in the series, 5-0-1, with this being the fifth consecutive season the teams are meeting. Last year Georgetown took a 3-2 game at Roberts Stadium, scoring the game winner in the 81st minute.
The Hoyas are ranked No. 6 in the latest (9/9) NSCAA poll with a 2-1-3 overall record. Georgetown has played four overtime games this season, including its last two games versus No. 9 UC Irvine and VCU. Georgetown played to a 1-1 tie with UC Irvine on Sunday afternoon to end a four-game homestand for the Hoyas. Georgetown opened the season facing nationally-ranked squads Indiana and Notre Dame, and tying both. Wins over Harvard and Wisconsin followed before its lone loss to VCU. Georgetown has played away from home just once this season. Junior Brandon Allen leads the team in scoring with four goals and two assists for 10 points. Sophomore Alex Muyl has scored twice and adds one assists for five points and junior Melvin Snoh has a goal and assist. Senior Tyler Rudy and Arun Basuljevic have scored once each and senior Austin Martz and sophomore Bakie Goodman have two helpers apiece. Senior Tomas Gomez has played every minute in goal and has a 0.74 goals against average and an .800 save percentage. He has allowed just five goals, while stopping 19 shots and earning two shutouts.
