Women's Tennis to Host Princeton Invitational Beginning Thursday
September 30, 2014 | Women's Tennis
Beginning Thursday afternoon, the Princeton women's tennis program will host its first home fall event in six years when the Tigers welcome players from Boston College, Columbia, Duke, Penn and South Carolina to the Lenz Tennis Center for the Princeton Invitational.
The event will be played in a hidden-dual format, which does not have a team score like a traditional spring dual match but puts players from one school primarily against players from one other school in a session rather than a bracketed draw as in other fall individual events.
Players from Princeton and Columbia will start play Thursday at 5 p.m. with singles matches, and the full complement of teams will begin play Friday with the first match set for 10 a.m., a series of doubles contests between players from Boston College and those from South Carolina and Duke.
Princeton's fall schedule runs through the second weekend in November, and this weekend's event will overlap with the 2014 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships in California where senior Lindsay Graff will compete. Graff is a main-draw invitee and will start play Thursday in the 64-player draw with an opponent to be announced late Wednesday once qualifying singles are complete.
