PRINCETON, N.J. (9/30/15) - It's a battle of the 2014 Ivy League champions as Dartmouth hosts Princeton in men's soccer on Saturday at 4 p.m.
It was Dartmouth's overtime win over Princeton last year that earned the Big Green the Ivy League's auto bid to the NCAA tournament, with the Tigers eventually being shut out of the big dance despite a nine-game unbeaten streak and an 11-3-3 record. Overall Princeton owns a 39-21-7 record in the all-time series since it began in 1922.
Princeton enters conference play with a 3-2-1 record and riding a three-game unbeaten streak that includes a 1-1 tie with American on Tuesday night in an ESPNU game at Roberts Stadium. Four seniors sit atop the scoring column, led by Thomas Sanner. He has 12 points on five goals and two assists. Brendan McSherry has scored twice and adds two assists for six points, while Nico Hurtado has one goal and a team-high three helpers. Defender Josh Miller adds two goals. Senior Ben Hummel has started in four games and has played in all six. He has a 1.79 goals against average and a .654 save percentage.
Dartmouth is 3-3-1 on the season, with four shutouts. The Big Green most recently defeated No. 18 Hofstra 3-0 a week ago Saturday. Eduvie Ikoba leads the team offensively with two goals and two assists for six points. Matt Danilack has a goal and one assist, while Tyler Dowse has a team-high three assists. Stefan Cleveland has started in goal in five games and has a 0.96 GAA and an .821 save percentage. James Hickock has started in two games and has a 1-1 record with a 0.47 GAA and a .750 save percetage. Overall the Big Green allow just 0.86 goals per game, with all six goals scored against coming in the second half.
