No. 12 Men's Water Polo Gears Up for Big CWPA Southern Division Weekend

PRINCETON, N.J. – The 12th-ranked Princeton University men's water polo team returns to action this weekend with four games in three days.
The Tigers will host Johns Hopkins on Friday, Oct. 23 before taking on Gannon and Navy in Annapolis, Md. Princeton closes out its weekend slate at home against George Washington on Oct. 25.
The Tigers' home games against Johns Hopkins and George Washington will be broadcast on the Ivy League Digital Network.
THE WEEK THAT WAS
• The Tigers placed third at last week's Ivy Championship.
• Princeton opened play with a 12-6 loss to Harvard before defeating Dartmouth in the third-place game, 17-2.
• Due to Dartmouth's status as a collegiate club program, the game will not count toward the Tigers' season record or statistics.
• Jordan Colina and Michael Swart led the way against Harvard with a pair of goals apiece, while Thomas Nelson and Matt Payne also got on the board.
• Nelson also added two assists and two blocks, while Colina had three steals. Vojislav Mitrovic finished with 11 saves.
DÉJÀ VU
• With another stellar performance at Bucknell, Vojislav Mitrovic picked up his second CWPA Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week award of the season.
• Mitrovic made 17 saves against the Bison, helping the Tigers to a 6-4 win.
• With a 9-4 record in 2015, Mitrovic has logged 370:34 minutes with a 0.586 save percentage.
• As a rookie, Mitrovic went 18-3 with a 0.604 save percentage.
• His 253 saves as a freshman rank second all-time on the program's single-season charts.

SHARING THE WEALTH
• All 13 of the Tigers' field players have recorded an assist and a goal this season, with six different players amassing at least 10 goals and five players dishing out double digit assists.
• Thomas Nelson leads the way with a team-high 34 goals, while Jordan Colina and Michael Swart have 28 and 23 goals, respectively. Ryan Wilson has 22 goals on the year, while Jovan Jeremic and Eric Bowen have found the back of the opposing net 15 and 11 times, respectively.
• Wilson and Swart are tied for the team lead with 18 helpers apiece, while Jamie Kuprenas has 17 assists. Nelson and Swart each have 12 helpers.
SERIES HISTORIES
• Princeton is 40-5 all-time against Johns Hopkins and 12-0 vs. Gannon. The Tigers also hold the edge over George Washington (36-1), while Navy leads the Orange and Black, 35-29.
• Earlier this season, the Tigers upended Gannon at the Princeton Invitational, 15-6. Princeton outlasted Johns Hopkins in overtime on Sept. 26, 17-15, before tripping up George Washington the following afternoon, 14-9.
• Last season, Princeton took all three meetings against Navy. Winning the regular season match-ups by scores of 12-7 and 11-10 (ot), respectively, the Tigers ousted the Midshipmen in the CWPA Championship semifinals, 6-3.
SCOUTING JOHNS HOPKINS
• The Tigers edged out Johns Hopkins on Sept. 26, 17-15 (ot).
• Thomas Nelson helped Princeton erase a two-goal fourth quarter deficit, netting six goals. Jordan Colina had four goals, while Ryan Wilson and Connor McGoldrick each had two assists. Colina also nabbed seven steals, while Michael Swart dished out four helpers. Vojislav Mitrovic had 13 saves.
• Johns Hopkins carries a 13-7 (4-3 CWPA Southern) record into the weekend.
• Giorgio Cico leads the team with 79 points (44G, 35A), while Langdon Froomer has 78 points on 30 goals and 48 assists. Matt Fraser has recorded 62 points (38G, 24A) this season, while Kevin Yee has tallied 45 points (23G, 22A).
• Erik Henrikson and John Wilson have split time in net, stopping 94 and 86 shots, respectively.
SCOUTING GANNON
• Princeton defeated Gannon at the Princeton Invitational on Sept. 6, 15-6.
• Eric Bowen led the way with four goals, while Jordan Colina turned in a hat-trick. Thomas Nelson and Bret Hinrichs each had a pair of scores, while Jamie Kuprenas had three assists. Freshman goalie Ryan Melosini finished with 12 saves.
• Gannon enters the weekend with a 5-5 (3-2 CWPA Southern-West) record.
• Michael Squeglia leads the team with 33 goals, 18 assists, and 15 steals, while Gilberto Millan had 31 goals, 15 assists, and 18 steals. Marko Sadikovic has 23 goals while Adam Wolf and Nick Williams have 25 and 19 scores, respectively.
SCOUTING NAVY
• Princeton won all three games against Navy last season.
• The Midshipmen enter the weekend with a 10-7 (4-2 Southern Division) record.
• Carl Dowzicky leads the team with 59 points (36G, 23A), while David Huber has 50 points (41G, 9A) on the season. Carpenter Warren has 36 points (24G, 12A) on the year, while Matt Skowronski has 27 points (13G, 14A). Jared Castillo has 19 goals and three assists on the year.
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
• Princeton defeated George Washington earlier this season on Sept. 27, 14-9.
