Men's Tennis to Host 47th Farnsworth Invitational This Weekend
October 06, 2015 | Men's Tennis
The annual home tournament for the Princeton men's tennis team that's now known as the Farnsworth Invitational will be held for the 47th time Friday through Sunday at the Lenz Tennis Center.
The event continues to honor the late Ted Farnsworth '84, an All-America honoree during his time at Princeton who went on to serve in the U.S. Navy before he passed away in 1993.
Joining Princeton at the event are Army West Point, Binghamton, Boston College, Bucknell, Drexel, FDU, Georgetown, Lehigh, Marist, Monmouth, NJIT, St. John's, Temple and Wisconsin.
Play will begin at 9 a.m. each day with doubles followed by singles. Players will compete in seven singles brackets and two doubles draws. The brackets will be posted here when they are completed Thursday.
Jonathan Carcione, Mohamed El Tonbari, Florin Radu and Jimmy Wasserman will represent Princeton in a tournament that comes three weeks after Princeton hosted the Ivy Plus Tournament. In between, Princeton sent Alex Day, Luke Gamble, Kial Kaiser and Josh Yablon to the Porsche Napa Valley Classic two weekends ago in California before taking last weekend off from competition.
Following the Farnsworth, Princeton will have a weekend off from competition before getting the ITA/USTA Northeast Regional started at Yale on Oct. 22.
